Jacques Dequeker was born in Porto Alegre, Southern Brazil, in 1970, and has lived in Sao Paulo since 1998. Self-taught, he started to photograph in 1997 influenced by friends such as photographer Pedro Flores and make-up artist Duda Molinos, whose work inspires images made by Dequeker. In 2000, the photographer publishes his first essay in Vogue Brasil magazine, to which he has contributed regularly since then. Two years later, in 2002, he wins the Brazilian Association of Textile Industry award for best fashion photographer in Brazil. In the following year, in 2003, he starts to publish his photos in Europe. Vogue Portugal, the French issue of Marie Claire, Glamour Paris, Swedish Forum Hasselblad, V Magazine, TWILL, El Pais newspaper, among others, are some of the titles where Dequeker has published works.
